University Sounds can be a great opportunity for you!
The Opera Universitaria of Trento – in collaboration with the Cultural Service, Tourism and Youth Policy of the City of Trento, the Music Center and the Center of Cultural Services St. Chiara – announces the twelfth edition of the University Sounds competition.
The winner will perform at the opening concert of the University Fall 2016 in the Sanbàpolis Theater of Trento in December 2016, and in a concert outside of the province in Spring of 2017, and will have a total of 16 hours in the recording studio of the Trento Music Center.
In addition, all finalists will benefit from a "starter kit" that includes laboratories and, work in the rehearsal room with a musician / professional writer. The finalists, except for the winner, have an opportunity to perform during various of musical events of 2017.
How can you sign up?
The registration for the Competition is free and must be completed online from October 1 to October 21, 2016.
The application for registration must be completed online only, by following a certain format and filling all parts on the form in their entirety on the website www.operauni.tn.it (the telephone number and the e-mail address specified will be used for all communications regarding the competition).
The application must be accompanied by:
• 3 new songs of the applicant’s own composition
• the full texts of the lyrics of the three songs and translations, in the case the original lyrics is in a foreign language
• the Fact Sheet, which must contain: the exact name of the group, the identity of its members with the corresponding musical instruments used, the author / s of the texts, the composer / s, and any technical requirements
• an exhaustive biography
• At least two color photos of the group or the individual, one horizontal and one vertical (indicate a possible copyright).
What are the steps leading towards the competition?
The Artistic Director of the competition, will evaluate the tracks and decide who will be invited to participate in screening evenings events. The selected participants will be contacted by telephone and via e-mail by Tuesday, October 25, using the contact info indicated on the application form, to finalize the date of their performance, which will be held in the month of November 2016 at the Center of Trento Music.
Participants admitted to the screening will perform live, in evening events open to the public. Each event will identify a winner by vote of the audience. Each evening will also present a guest group, which will perform at the end of the program. The screenings will take place in the evenings of November 8,15, 22 and 29, 2016.
The final evening, in which the artistic jury will announce the winner, will be held on December 6, 2016 at the Sanbàpolis theater and will be covered by Sanbaradio. In addition, a live broadcast of various evenings will be available on our website.
