Did you ever reflect on the impact and importance of cross-cultural exchange?
Discover it actually means in Aracaju, Brazil.Through educational initiatives and creative art projects at Oratório de Bebê, our volunteers experience firsthand the warmth, enthusiasm, and love of local children. This life-changing international experience goes beyond teaching, it is about stepping out of your comfort zone, building authentic connections, sharing knowledge, and growing together in a community driven by heart and purpose.
At its core, the project focuses on engaging children through creative and non-conventional activities. Operating within a Catholic nonprofit boarding school founded in 1914 with over a century of history in supporting children from low-income families, the mission is to provide dedicated care, education, and protection for vulnerable students aged 8 to 12 during the afternoon shift. While linked to the Catholic church, religious participation is not required.
This initiative directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) of the 2030 Agenda, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. By supporting children outside of standard formal schooling hours, volunteers help bridge educational gaps, foster inclusive learning environments, and cultivate essential cognitive and social skills.
Volunteers participate through these activites:* Academic Support: Assisting with school subjects, homework help, and language teaching (such as English).* Creative & Cultural Engagement: Promoting creativity through arts, music, sports, games, storytelling, and cultural presentations.* Practical Workshops: Designing sessions centered on health, environmental awareness, and vital soft skills.* Foundational Learning: Engaging younger age groups with interactive activities like teaching colors, numbers, reading, writing, and collaborative group work.
