Are you a student who does not know where to go?
Here are the top 10 must-see places to visit in Trentino Alto Adige.
1. Lake Garda and its wonderful cities: Riva di Garda, Limone and Malcesine
In my opinion, there are three most beautiful cities on the lake: each one is situated in a different province, but located very close to each other. Riva del Garda lies in the middle, therefore this may be the ideal starting place, from which you can visit. Also Limone, which is located in the province of Brescia, and Malcesine, which is located in the province of Verona.
How to get there: You can take bus 301 from the Trento bus station or alternatively from the station near SanBartolameo (Viale Trento Verona – Big Center). You can find the timetables at the bus stop or on the website of the Trentino Trasporti.
2. The Bastion and Church of Santa Barbara
To reach these two amazing places you can easily leave from Riva del Garda. A short distance away, going up, you will find The Bastion: the ideal place for an aperitif with a good panorama. If you decide to continue, in about 1.5-2 hours you will reach the Church of Santa Barbara. It is not the church that I recommend you to visit, but fabulous views that can be admired from this point.
How to get there: you can follow the signs to get to Riva di Garda, and once arrived to the main square overlooking the lake, go to the mountains westward.
3. Alto Adige – Bolzano, Merano, Ortisei
Three cities not to be missed in South Tyrol are Bolzano, Merano and Ortisei. In the capital of South Tyrol, it is interesting to visit the Archaeological Museum, which presents the internationally renowned mummy Ötzi. In Merano I advise you to climb by the cable car to admire the beauty of the city and then you can back down to visit the beautiful park and go to see the horse races. It is also a good idea to visit Ortisei immersed in the beautiful natural scenery of the Dolomites.
How to get there: You can take the train from the train station of Trento, which leaves almost every hour. You can find timetables on website of the Trenitalia.
4. Lake Caldonazzo
This lake is the closest to the city and is accessible by train in direction of Valsugana : the perfect place to sunbathe and enjoy water sports in summer. It hosts Facoltiadi and many festivals for young people. The river Brenta originates from this lake.
How to get there: You can take bus 401, you can find the timetable on the Trentino Trasporti website, or a train in the direction of Pergine Valsugana (the schedules are available on the Trenitalia website).
5. Lake Cei
In the municipality of Villa Lagarina there is this small lake surrounded by nature, it is suitable for those who seek peace and quiet away from the noise of the city.
How to get there: Unfortunately you can only get there by changing 3 buses or by car.
6. Lake Braies
It is a fantastic place to spend a day in touch with nature. The path around the lake is very pleasant and the scenery enchanting.
How to get there: Unfortunately you can only get here by car. A good idea is to use the CarSharing.
7. Folgaria
Folgaria is a famous summer resort where people go hiking , and it is also a winter resort where you can ski and have fun in the snow.
How to get there: you can get there by two buses, with a bus change in Rovereto or in Calliano. The schedules are, as always, on the Trentino Trasporti website.
8. Val Falls Genoa
The first waterfall can be reached by car, and it is spectacular. You can then continue on foot in the forest where there are many other waterfalls.
How to get there: Unfortunately to get here you need to change several buses or you can arrive by your own car or by sharing a car.
9. Castel Beseno
Is a majestic fortress that occupies the entire hill and has a dominant position over the Adige Valley. It is located in the municipality of Besenello, the home to cultural and historical events.
How to get there: To reach the castle you can take bus 301 from the suburban station of Trento or a bus from the nearby station to SanBartolameo (Viale Trento Verona Big Center). You can find the timetables at the bus stop or on the Trentino Trasporti website.
10. Castle of Avio
You enter the castle through a gate-tower crowned with battlements dovetail. I advise you to visit the House of Guards in Mastio and the Baronial Palace. A special feature of this fort is that visitors have access to almost every single part of the place.
How to get there: you can take bus 751 from the suburban station of Trento or a bus from the nearby station to SanBartolameo (Viale Trento Verona Big Center). You can find the timetables at the bus stop or on the Trentino Trasporti website.
As a small advice, you can always calculate your trip using Google Maps, which can also give you some information on public transportation. I even suggest you to use Carsharing, which is already available in Trento, always very convenient and economical.
I wish you a good trip
